I just returned from a 4-day Market trip to preview and place orders for Spring + Summer 2020 (SS20). Its hard to believe that I am already selecting the goods that will be hitting our racks in the coming year when we are still so early into the Autumn + Winter 2019 (AW19) season. By the way, before owning a shop, I never knew what the SS, AW or FW acronyms meant, so I hope that you feel a little bit smarter if you didn't know that before reading this post.
Outside of Coterie, the main Market we go to. Each year its held at Javits Convention center in New York City
Our former shop girl (and very first employee) Tayler happens to live on the East Coast and has been accompanying me to Market for three different seasons. Its been so nice to have someone to talk through the trends with and offer a unique perspective now that she lives in a place where fashion trends are live and in the flesh.
Our picks from Rolla's, one of our newest brands out of Australia.
What we are noticing for SS20:
- Lime green / fluorescent pink (I can't get on board with these colors, are you into them?)
- Flared and wide-legged jeans - a throwback to the 70's which is continuing on from AW19
- Mom jeans + straight legged jeans (also still going strong from AW19 and previous seasons)
- Earth tones
Outside of Pier 94, home of the Capsule Show. Fact, we got snubbed by the reps at Levi's which is one of my personal favorite heritage brands. That one stung quite a bit!
Every year I learn a little bit more about my own personal style and it truly gets me excited to share my favorites with our local Stevens Point community. Just because we live in the Midwest, doesn't mean we have to subscribe to these typical ideals. Cheers to living outside of the box, even its just a little bit.
Until next time!
